QuickBooks Desktop Mac allows you to attach photos and scanned documents using your iPhone or iPad.

From any window that allows attachments, click the attachments icon, then click on the plus icon. You should see your iPhone or iPad as an option in the menu. To attach a photo, click Take Photo. This will open the camera on your device. Take your photo, then click Use Photo. Your photo will then appear in the transaction’s attachment window.

To attach a scan with your device, click Scan Documents. Take your photo, then click Keep Scan. Your scan will appear in the attachments window as a PDF. Your photos and scanned documents will be saved in your company’s attachments library for future reference.

To be able to use the iPhone Scanner feature, you’ll need to ensure the following:

  • Your Mac and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
  • Bluetooth is enabled on both your Mac and your device
  • You’re signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID and two-factor authentication is enabled on both your Mac and device
  • You’re using at least macOS Mojave and at least iOS 12 on your device
