Create Keyboard Shortcuts

You can create your own keyboard shortcuts to help you save time while navigating through QuickBooks. This may be especially useful if you find yourself opening specific windows more often than others.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Launch QuickBooks
  2. Go to the Apple Menu and select “System Preferences…”
  3. Click “Keyboard”
  4. Click the “Shortcuts” menu
  5. Select “App Shortcuts” on the left side of the window
  6. Click the + button.
  7. When the sheet drops, select QuickBooks from the Applications pull-down menu.
  8. Next, enter the menu title of the window you want the shortcut to open. For example, if I want my custom keyboard shortcut to open the Receive Payments window, I will write “Receive Payments” because that’s the menu title that opens this window.
  9. Lastly, enter the keystroke that you want to use for your shortcut. Make sure it’s a keyboard shortcut that isn’t already in use. For my Receive Payments example, I may choose something like “option + R.”

That’s it! Now you can use the keyboard shortcut(s) that you created to make working with QuickBooks even more efficient.
